Hurtigruten expedition

Hurtigruten Expeditions: You sit in the first row and experience our world up close - on our expedition sea voyages accompanied by German-speaking experts, sustainability and imparting knowledge are the focus.
The original since 1893:On our route, from north to south along the scenic Norwegian coast, we connect 34 of the most important municipalities, in every season.

At the Norwegian shipping company Hurtigruten, the focus is on beautiful nature experiences during the cruise. Hurtigruten has a long history, having been around since 1893. The most famous route is called "The Most Beautiful Voyage in the World" and runs from Bergen to Kirkenes and back along Norway's spectacular coast. The company also organizes expedition cruises, e.g. B. to the Arctic and Svalbard. All ships have an expedition team on board who organize lectures, activities, hikes and shore excursions.

The food on board focuses on locally produced ingredients: fish, meat and vegetables. The company works with local producers along the Norwegian coast to ensure that the food served has the shortest possible route to the ship. During a cruise aboard Hurtigruten ships, there is no traditional entertainment like on many other companies. There are no shows, but there can be live music in the evenings.

There is no dress code on board. Passengers dress casually during the day, some dress up for dinner, but this is not a requirement. Otherwise, windproof, warm clothing suitable for being on deck and ashore is required. Hurtigruten cruises mostly attract middle-aged travelers.

MS Otto Sverdrup (before conversion MS Finnmarken) is named after a great Norwegian polar hero. Sverdrup was the first to cross Greenland on skis. He was also an important member of the polar expeditions and captain of the legendary arctic ship "Fram". Between expeditions he also served as captain of the Hurtigruten. Like its namesake, MS Otto Sverdrup explores the arctic regions and the rugged Norwegian coast like a true adventurer.

The ship offers the opportunity to pamper yourself in the new wellness area with gym, lounge, treatment rooms and sauna. You can also enjoy the outdoor pool and hot tubs on Deck 7. To admire the beautiful scenery, we also recommend the outdoor viewing platforms on Deck 8 and in the stern of Decks 5 and 6.

MS Spitsbergen takes its name from  "the crown of arctic Norway" - the Svalbard archipelago Spitsbergen. Voyages to this group of islands have long been part of Hurtigruten's history, which began in 1896 with the Sportsman's Route. MS Spitsbergen runs from September to May die Norwegian coast along and doing for the rest of the year expedition travel  over long distances.

After a complete refurbishment, MS Spitsbergen rejoined the Hurtigruten fleet in 2016. The ship meets high technical standards and offers chic, modern public areas and cabins. The ship's fresh Scandinavian design reflects the color palette of the sea. MS Spitsbergen is modern and of advanced environmental technology, but we plan further improvements to further reduce emissions and fuel consumption. Thanks to its maneuverability and optimal size, MS Spitsbergen can navigate polar waters
